About Terese Weinstein Katz,
MFT, PhD
As a psychologist, I’ve worked for over 35 years with people dealing with varied life challenges—depression, anxiety, relational issues and trauma. I maintain a strong subspeciality in eating disorders as well—including and especially the more common struggles: emotional overeating, constant dieting, binging, and chronic body dissatisfaction.
I believe it’s crucial for us all to understand ourselves, including how and why our struggles developed. This can open the door to greater self-compassion, better self-care, and new choices. At the same time, I know that insight and understanding often don’t help fully enough with the agony of longstanding emotional pain or addictive behaviors. So, while my education immersed me in psychodynamic and family systems theories, I also integrate other approaches to change where helpful. I have additional training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, stress management, somatic and mindfulness practice. I am additionally a certified breathwork facilitator.
I will assist you in understanding what’s going on and what might be most helpful or needed. I know the many ways that our world and our lives can complicate our best efforts and will help you find your way. Currently my practice is fully via telehealth.
